about Me
Professional editing you can trust
I am a professional member of the Chartered Institute of Editing and Proofreading in the UK. Being a professional member not only reflects my skills and experience, but also means I have to adhere to its code of practice. I am also a member of Mediterranean Editors & Translators.
Since 2013, I have worked as a freelance copyeditor on medical and health-related texts written primarily by authors writing in English as an additional language. This includes academic journal articles, research reports and academic books. My focus is on clarity, accuracy and preserving meaning, while ensuring the final text reads naturally.
Before working independently, I spent 20 years as a senior manager in the British health sector, with experience across public health, medical research, primary care, medical devices and diagnostics, health technology evaluation and pharmaceuticals. During this time, I wrote and edited a wide range of professional documents.
As a Canada > UK > Germany transplant who experiences every day the challenge of communicating in a second language, I have a personal as well as professional understanding of what ESL (English as a second language) authors face when writing in English.
